Michael Andersen is currently the CTO and Co-Founder of Antimatter. Before that, they were the Founder and CTO of Hamilton IoT from January 2017 to December 2020. There, they commercialized research into ultra-low-power, secure wireless sensor networks. Prior to that, they were the Chief Technology Officer of PingThings from January 2017 to December 2020, where they commercialized their time series database research, BTrDB, for petabyte scale dense telemetry. This was the basis for ARPA-E project to analyze and protect national electric grid. From January 2013 to December 2019, they were a Fulbright Scholar as part of the 2013 South African Fulbright cohort.
Michael Andersen has a Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley, and a BSc Hons in Computer Science, Physics, and Electronics from Rhodes University.
