Clare Matthews has a diverse work experience spanning over 17 years. Clare currently works as a Senior Data Scientist at Aparito, where they started in May 2020. Prior to this, Clare worked as a Research Officer at Bangor University from January 2018 to January 2019. Clare also worked as a Data Scientist at The Floow Limited from January 2017 to January 2018. Before transitioning into data science, Clare worked as a Developer at ThoughtWorks from October 2014 to December 2016.
From September 2008 to September 2014, Clare worked as a Research Scientist at the National Physical Laboratory, specializing in mathematical modeling, simulation, data analysis, and uncertainty evaluation. In this role, they provided consulting services to scientists from various technical groups within the laboratory and developed software, analysis tools, and algorithms to solve their modeling and data processing challenges.
Prior to this, Clare worked as a Tutor at University College London from September 2005 to July 2007, and as an Actuary at Aon Hewitt from September 2003 to September 2004.
Clare Matthews completed their education with a Master's Degree in Computer Science from Birkbeck, University of London from 2012 to 2014. Prior to that, they obtained a PhD in Earth Sciences, Fracture Mechanics, and Computer Modelling from UCL, which they pursued from 2004 to 2008. Clare'sundergraduate degree, an MSci in Mathematics, was earned from the University of Bristol from 1998 to 2003. Additionally, they spent a year at Nagoya University in 2001-2002, studying Japanese Studies.
