David Sperzel is a seasoned Senior Informaticist with extensive experience in clinical informatics and health data interoperability. Currently leading clinical terminology efforts on a Defense Medical Information Exchange project at Apelon, Inc., David has a rich history in the field, including developing neonatal ontologies for the National Children’s Study and enhancing ophthalmology concepts for the Veterans Health Administration. Previous roles include directing clinical research at Neurex, managing the knowledge engineering team at First DataBank, and contributing to the Unified Medical Language System at Lexical Technology, Inc. David holds a Master's Degree in Medical Information Science from the University of California, San Francisco, and an MD from the University of Tennessee-Health Science Center College of Medicine.
