Hardy Liu began their work experience in 2010 as a Derivatives Trader at ICBC Asia. Hardy then moved on to become a Global Equity analyst at LST Capital Partners from 2013 to 2015. From 2015 to 2018, Hardy worked as the Primary Lead on Asian Listed Equities at Macquarie Group, managing USD3b for institutional clients. In 2018, they co-founded Apoidea, an AI company specializing in deep learning and natural language processing for financial texts. Currently, Hardy is the Managing Partner at Altive, an alternative investment platform that provides individual access to previously exclusive institutional funds.
Hardy Liu attended the University of Virginia, where they did not specify a start or end year. Hardy then went on to study at the HKUST Business School, where they obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) degree. In this program, they focused on finance as their first field of study and information system management as their second field of study. Hardy also received additional certifications, including the FRM certification from the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP) in October 2014 and the CFA certification from the CFA Institute in September 2014.
