Karl Greden has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Karl is currently the Co-Founder/VP of Product and Process Development at Apparo Inc., a position they have held since January 2020. Prior to that, from 2017 to 2019, they worked at Zea10 as the VP of R&D, where they developed a process for extracting protein from brewer's grains and scaled it up for production.
Before that, from 2010 to 2018, Karl worked at Rational Energies as a Process Engineer, where they contributed to various projects. In 2009, they volunteered as an Engineer at Hogar de Esperanza, where they designed and built a low-cost automatic chlorine delivery system for a water distribution project.
Karl's academic background includes working as a Graduate Research Assistant at Carnegie Mellon University from 2007 to 2009, where they focused on studying the effects of coatings and oxidation of nano-zerovalent iron on groundwater ecology. Karl also worked as a Practicum Engineer at General Mills in 2007, where they co-led a team studying the effects of extruder elements on cereal formula properties.
Karl's first professional experience was as an Engineering Intern at Medtronic from 2006 to 2007, where they researched alternative degreasers to reduce environmental impact in production facilities.
Karl Greden pursued their education in a chronological order, starting with their Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Minnesota. Karl attended this institution from 2003 to 2007. Subsequently, Karl proceeded to obtain their Master's degree in Environmental Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, which they completed between 2007 and 2009.
