Álvaro Sánchez-Villalba has a diverse work experience in the fields of bioinformatics and software development. Álvaro started their career as a Bioinformatics Analyst Assistant at the Universidad de Granada in 2018, where they analyzed satellite DNA from Illumina reads and generated enrichment plots using BASH and R.
In 2019, Álvaro took the role of a Research Assistant at the Institute of Molecular Genetics. Here, they studied the role of the gene Cluh in glucose metabolism and gained knowledge in various wet-lab techniques. Álvaro also worked with genetically modified mice for fasting experiments and IPGTT, as well as exercise and resistance training on a treadmill.
Álvaro continued their journey in bioinformatics as a Bioinformatician at the Institute of Molecular Genetics. In this role, they designed experiments for the Proteomics Service Lab, analyzed proteomics data using LC-MS/MS, and created ready-to-publish plots and graphs. Álvaro also developed and managed Shiny apps deployed on local Linux servers.
Currently, Álvaro is a R/Shiny Developer at Appsilon, starting in 2022. Further details about this role are not provided.
Álvaro Sánchez-Villalba completed their education with a Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology from the Universidad de Cádiz, which they attended from 2013 to 2017. Álvaro then pursued further studies at the Universidad de Granada, earning a Master's degree in Genetics and Evolution from 2017 to 2018.
