John Kirk-Anderson

John Kirk-Anderson has a diverse background in outdoor education and media, currently serving as a Field Instructor at NOLS and a Sea Kayak Instructor at the Ara Institute of Canterbury since 2022. With ongoing roles as an Instructor and Assessor for the New Zealand Outdoor Instructors Association since 1995, John trains and assesses certified sea kayak instructors. Previous professional experience includes a longstanding career as a Photojournalist at The Press, STUFF from 1990 to 2023, and various positions in photography at Christchurch Star and sea kayaking with Heritage Expeditions. John's earlier military service in the NZ Army from 1982 to 1987 involved specialization in reconnaissance and sniping.
