Alex O. Otieno

Interim Dean, College of Arts & Sciences & Associate Professor, Sociology at Arcadia University

Professor Otieno has taught at Arcadia since 2001. He earned a Master’s Degree from Temple University and is completing a PhD at the University of South Africa. His research interests revolve around questions of health and human rights, migration, social and human service provision, multiple belonging(s) and identities, toponymy and social transformation. Professor Otieno other interests include historical memory, everyday peace building, hope and joy as acts of resistance, and discursive responses to social problems. Most recently, his work has explored transformative encounters and restorative practices.
