Adair Borges is a Scientist at Arcadia Science since January 2022, following a role as a Miller Research Fellow at the University of California, Berkeley from June 2020 to January 2022, where the focus was on the bioinformatic discovery of bacteriophages with alternative genetic codes under the supervision of Jill Banfield, Ph.D. Prior to this, Adair Borges worked as a Graduate Student Researcher at the University of California, San Francisco from August 2014 to February 2020, investigating bacteriophage inhibition of CRISPR-Cas immune systems, supervised by Joseph Bondy-Denomy, Ph.D. The research career began as an Undergraduate Student Researcher at the University of Pittsburgh from June 2012 to August 2014, studying the genome and transcriptome evolution of Toxoplasma gondii under Jon P. Boyle, Ph.D. Adair Borges holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of California, San Francisco, and a Bachelor's degree in Microbiology from the University of Pittsburgh.
