Stacey M. Washington has extensive work experience in the legal field. Stacey M. started their career in 1988 as a Staff Attorney/Pro Se Law Clerk at the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Michigan. From 1990 to 1992, they served as a Staff Attorney at UAW-GM Legal Services. Stacey M. then worked as an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Ann Arbor from 1992 to 2000. From 2000 to 2003, Stacey M. Washington operated their own law firm, the Law Office of Stacey M. Washington, where they served as an Attorney and Of Counsel. Stacey M. then joined the City of Detroit Law Department, Labor and Employment Division, as a Senior Assistant Corporation Counsel from 2003 to 2005. In 2005, they became an Associate Attorney at Eisenberg & Bogas, PC. Simultaneously, they also started their own practice as an Attorney and Counselor at Stacey M. Washington, Attorney and Counselor. Stacey M. held these positions until 2020. Stacey M. Washington's most recent work includes the role of Senior Employee Relations and Compliance Manager at the Archdiocese of Detroit from 2020 to 2023. Currently, they are the Director of Compliance at the Archdiocese, responsible for creating and maintaining a legal compliance program. Stacey M. also served as the Co-Interim Director of Human Resources from 2023 to 2023, in partnership with the Chief Operating Officer, working on process improvement and policy development.

Stacey M. Washington has a Doctor of Law degree (JD) from Wayne State University Law School. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with distinction (cum laude) from the same institution. Stacey M. Washington also holds various certifications including a License to Practice Law from the US District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan and the State Bar of Michigan. Additionally, they have certifications in mediation and facilitation from Michigan, as well as the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification from HRCI.
