Gregory J. Palakow

Greg has an active and diverse Litigation practice with focus in trust and fiduciary litigation, estate disputes, nursing home and long term care facility representation, and representation of offices of county government. Greg has handled estate litigation in multi-million dollar estates, and is regularly appointed by the court to study Probate Part disputes and make recommendations to the court. In these areas of practice, Greg regularly handles cases in the Law Division, Chancery Division, Probate and General Equity Parts, the Office of Administrative Law, the Appellate Division and the Department of Health and Senior Services Departmental Appeals Board. In these venues, Greg has over 20 years of experience litigating matters to successful resolutions and verdicts.

These areas intersect well with Greg’s Elder Law practice. For over twenty years, Greg has counseled both families and long term care facilities in the areas of Medicaid planning, applications and appeals. He regularly handles and investigates cases of financial exploitation of the elderly and handles the issues that arise in fiduciary disputes.

Greg has chaired the firm’s Immigration and Homeland Security Group for fifteen years. He is a longtime member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, New Jersey Chapter. Greg counsels U.S. and international businesses in United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) rules and nuances. He regularly represents U.S. employers in all of their immigration needs. In this role, Greg counsels clients on the Immigration and Nationality Act, (INA), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and with U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) regulatory compliance. Greg handles North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) work visa applications, and their resolution through United States Custom and Border Patrol (CBP).

As an immigration practitioner with many years of experience, Greg represents and protects the rights and businesses of employers who have been audited or raided. Greg has helped many foreign businesses launch their U.S. offices by obtaining work visas and green cards for their executives. He has obtained visas for candidates as diverse as high fashion designers, celebrity chefs, technology workers and pediatric trauma surgeons. Greg regularly writes articles and speaks often in this complicated and controversial area of practice. He has appeared before the USCIS, The Department of Homeland Security, and the Executive Office of Immigration Review (EOIR).
