Stewart S.W. Shum, CPA, CMA has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Stewart S.W. started their career in 1993 as a Manager of Knowledge & Information Management at BC Hydro. Stewart S.W. then worked as the Director of Worldwide Applications at Crystal Decisions from 1997 to 2001. Following that, they served as the Vice President of Business Information Systems at Inventure Solutions from 2001 to 2008.

In 2009, Shum joined Rotman DesignWorks as a Business Design Associate, where they worked on applying design-inspired tools and techniques to business innovation challenges. During this time, they also provided ongoing support for the operations of DesignWorks Singapore, a collaboration between Rotman DesignWorks and Singapore Polytechnic.

Shum's experience in the field of design continued as they took on roles at various design-focused organizations. Stewart S.W. served as a Research Assistant at OCAD University in 2010 and as a Design Strategist at DesignWorks Singapore in 2012. Stewart S.W. then became the Director of DesignWorks Singapore in the same year, leading a team in delivering innovative solutions in healthcare, food & beverage, and the public sector.

In 2013, Shum became the Managing Partner at Vuka Innovation Inc., an innovation development company that focuses on enhancing the capacity of individuals and organizations to design new ways to deliver value. Their role involved customizing programs to meet organizational challenges on a business and human level.

In 2016, Shum joined Rotman DesignWorks, University of Toronto as a Senior Research Associate. Stewart S.W. contributed to the development of Business Design, a trademarked approach that fuses design principles with business education. During this time, they trained executives worldwide in Business Design.

From 2018 to 2022, Shum worked at York & Chapel as the Managing Director in Toronto. In this role, they oversaw a full-service digital agency and focused on providing clients with strategically-focused ideas and creative solutions.

Currently, Shum holds the position of Vice President of Client Services at ArcoInfo North-America, where they lead a team in designing and delivering digital solutions that automate and digitize business workflows, incorporating emerging technologies to enhance the overall delivery experience of products and services across organizations.

Stewart S.W. Shum, CPA, CMA has a diverse education history that spans various disciplines. In 1999 to 2001, they attended the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada) where they obtained a certification as a Chartered Professional Accountant. Moving forward, they pursued their passion for design and attended OCAD University from 2008 to 2011. At OCAD, they completed their Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design.

Stewart has also focused on gaining additional certifications throughout their education journey. In 2012, they obtained a Certificate in Innovation Leadership from the California College of the Arts. Stewart S.W. has also obtained an edX Verified Certificate for Data Science Orientation, indicating their interest and understanding in data science.

In terms of online education, they took a course in Data Science (Microsoft) on edX in 2016, showcasing their commitment to furthering their knowledge in the field. Additionally, they engaged with +Acumen to participate in their Corps Challenges program, which is aligned with their interest in social entrepreneurship. Stewart S.W. also attended +Acumen in 2015 to learn about Storytelling for Change and Introduction to Innovation through Human-Centered Design from Luma Institute.
