Mebz Esmail

Mebz Esmail has a diverse work experience in senior IT positions. From 1999 to 2003, they worked as a Network Analyst at Alcatel Canada, where they were responsible for configuring and maintaining network equipment. In 2004, they joined Inkra Networks as a Customer Engineer, providing technical support for networking products. From 2004 to 2015, they held various roles at Honeywell IT Enterprise Services, including Manager of Global Server Operations and Manager of Application Hosting. During their time at Honeywell, they oversaw server administration globally, supported infrastructure and operational functions in Canada and Latin America, and led the Canada and Latin America Operations team. From 2015 to 2021, they worked at Hyperwallet Systems Inc. as the Director of IT Operations. From 2016 to 2022, they held positions at Best Buy Canada, starting as a Senior IT Manager and later becoming the Director of IT, Infrastructure Technology. Since 2021, they have been the Vice President of Information Technology at Westland Insurance Group Ltd. Most recently, in 2022, they joined Aritzia as the Vice President of Cloud & Infrastructure Services.

Mebz Esmail's education history includes a Bachelor's degree in Science & Pharmacology from The University of British Columbia, obtained between 1988 and 1993. In 1996-1997, Mebz completed a LAN Specialist Diploma from CDI College of Business and Technology. Between 1998 and 2011, Mebz took various Vendor Accredited Courses & Certifications in Microsoft, Cisco, Novell, and VMWare, resulting in certifications such as CCNP, MCSE, CNE, and VCP (4,5). In 2017-2018, Mebz attended the Beedie School of Business at Simon Fraser University to complete the CIO Association of Canada, Leadership Program with a focus on Information Technology.
