Head of Logistics & Procurement at ARK

Ed Bicknell has a diverse and extensive work experience. Ed has held various roles in different companies and organizations throughout their career.

Starting in 1989, Ed Bicknell worked in the British Army, where they served as a Team Leader, Instructor, Supervisor, Logistics Manager, Instructor, Operations Manager, and Senior Operations Manager. During their time in the military, they planned, trained, and supervised troops, served as an Intelligence/Operations Manager in Battle Group Headquarters, and delivered training programs to the Ghanaian and Omani Armed Forces.

In 2013, Ed Bicknell joined ARK as a Programme Training Coordinator. Ed then moved on to Mayday Rescue in 2014, where they held multiple roles, including Operations Manager, Procurement and Logistics Lead, and Head of Support Services. In these positions, they led functional departments such as supply chain, HR, IT, bid writing, and contract management. Ed also chaired the risk and audit committee and managed Mayday's sustainability commitment as a UN Global Compact partner.

Most recently, in 2022, Ed Bicknell returned to ARK as the Head of Logistics & Procurement, responsible for overseeing logistics and procurement activities.

Ed Bicknell's education history includes a range of qualifications and certifications. Ed holds a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Supply Chain Management from Aston University. Additionally, they have obtained a Level 7 Extended Diploma in Strategic management and leadership from the Chartered Management Institute, and a Diploma in Procurement & Supply from CIPS - The Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply. Their undergraduate education includes a Bachelor of Arts (BA Hons) degree in Leadership and Management from Northumbria University, as well as a BTEC Level 5 Professional Diploma in Management Studies from Wessex Business School.

Moreover, Ed received their General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) from The Arthur Terry School in 1988.

In addition to their academic achievements, Ed Bicknell has also obtained several certifications. Ed became a Certified Member of CIPS - The Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply in March 2022. Ed obtained the MCMI certification from the Chartered Management Institute in March 2019 and the Managing Safely certification from IOSH in June 2020. Furthermore, they have obtained certifications in various areas such as Advanced Project Management Applications, Medicine in Remote Areas (MIRA), SIA Close Protection, Close Protection-G4S, Surveillance detection Instinctive Driving, and First Person On Scene-Intermediate. Ed also completed a Professional Development: Management program at Coventry University in July 2011. Finally, they are scheduled to complete the Ethical Procurement and Supply 2020 certification from CIPS - The Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply in February 2023.
