Rick Running, P.E. has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over several decades. Rick began their career as a Nuclear Power Plant Design Engineer at Black & Veatch in 1978. After a year, they joined Xcel Energy as a Generation Planning, Economics/Finance & Marketing Engineer, where they worked until 1991.
In 1992, Rick became a Consultant & Product Manager at EPS Solutions, and they continued in this role until 1995. Rick then moved to Black & Veatch again, this time as a Study/Project Manager, working from 1996 to 2001.
Rick then joined TXU Energy as a Market Analysis Mgr/Lead, where they worked until 2003. From 2003 to 2008, they worked at Southwest Power Pool as The Principal Engineer.
In 2009, Rick started their own consulting company, Fleet-footed Consulting LLC, where they worked as a Consultant & P.E. until 2014. That year, they joined Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corp. as the Manager of Generation Planning, a position they held until 2021.
As of June 2021, Rick is serving as the Director of Generation Planning & Economic Studies at Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corp.
Rick Running, P.E. obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with a focus on Power Systems from the University of Minnesota in 1978. Prior to that, they pursued engineering studies and earned a minor degree in Mathematics at the University of Minnesota Duluth from 1974 to 1976. Later, Rick pursued further education and graduated with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Finance from the University of Minnesota - Carlson School of Management in 1987.
In addition to their educational achievements, Rick Running also holds the certification of Professional Engineer, obtained from the State of Wisconsin in 1992.
