Anita Mitchell has a diverse work experience that includes roles in the art industry and the food service industry. Anita has been the Director of Collections and Exhibitions at the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts since 2024, where they previously worked as Collections Manager and Head Registrar. In these positions, they were responsible for managing the museum's art collection and overseeing documentation and registration processes. Anita also worked as an Assistant Registrar at the museum, where they managed loans and coordinated exhibitions. Prior to their work at the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts, Anita worked as a Collections Assistant at Falmouth Art Gallery, where they assisted with exhibition logistics, documentation, and administration. Anita also worked as a Supervisor at Harbour View Café and Restaurant, where they supervised the kitchen and front of house teams and managed stock control and customer service.
Anita Mitchell holds a Master's Degree in Museum Studies from the University of Leicester, which they obtained from 2013 to 2014. Anita also completed a Bachelor's Degree in History of Art, Archaeology, and Spanish from the same university, spanning from 2009 to 2013. In addition, Anita has pursued various short-term courses and workshops, including a Crystal Reports Workshop from Gallery Systems in 2021, an Integrated Pest Management for Cultural Institutions course from the Association of Registrars and Collections Specialists in 2018, and a Care and Identification of Photographs training from Gawain Weaver Art Conservation in the same year. Anita has also attended the ARCS 2019 Biennial Conference organized by the Association of Registrars and Collections Specialists and completed a course on Copyright for Educators & Librarians on Coursera in 2021. Before their university education, Anita studied Fine Arts at the Fine Arts High School "Bruno Cassinari" in Italy, specializing in Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture from 2004 to 2009.
