Carla Neckles

Scientist II at Arrakis Therapeutics

Carla Neckles has worked in the scientific field since 2009. Carla began as a Research Assistant at Stony Brook University, where they characterized and inhibited the activity of essential proteins expressed in bio-warfare and opportunistic pathogens. Carla then moved to Brookhaven National Laboratory in 2014, where they evaluated ~360 technologies for patentability, marketing, and commercial potential. Carla also collaborated and consulted with cross-functional teams to assess unmet needs, achieve technology development and address marketing project goals. In 2016, they became a Postdoctoral Fellow at the National Cancer Institute (NCI). In 2019, they moved to Cyteir Therapeutics as a Scientist, and in 2020 they were promoted to Scientist II at Arrakis Therapeutics. In their current role as Senior Scientist, they continue to work at Arrakis Therapeutics.

Carla Neckles has a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Chemistry from Stony Brook University which they obtained in 2014. Carla also holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Chemistry from University at Albany, SUNY which they obtained in 2009. Additionally, they have three certifications: "Communicating to Drive People to Take Action" from LinkedIn which they obtained in March 2021, "Communication Foundations" from LinkedIn which they obtained in March 2021, and "Fundamentals of the Bioscience Industry certification program" from the Center for Biotechnology, Stony Brook University which they obtained in January 2013.
