Luis Soares

Associate Director - Head Of Computational Biology at Arrakis Therapeutics

Luis Soares has worked in the field of bioinformatics for over 20 years. Luis began their career in 2001 as a PhD Student at EMBL, followed by a PhD Student at the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) in 2002. In 2007, they became a Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard Medical School. From 2017 to 2018, they worked as a Bioinformatics Consultant at Foghorn Therapeutics, followed by a role as a Senior Bioinformatics Scientist and Bioinformatics Scientist at Foghorn Therapeutics, Inc. from 2018 to 2021. Most recently, they were a Senior Scientist II, Bioinformatics at Homology Medicines, Inc. from 2021 to 2022, and is currently an Associate Director at Arrakis Therapeutics.

Luis Soares obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology and Genetics from the Faculty of Sciences University of Lisbon, Portugal between 1995 and 2000. Luis then went on to obtain a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biomedical Sciences from the Faculdade de Medicina, Universidade de Lisboa between 2001 and 2007, as well as a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Molecular Biology from the Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciencias between 2001 and 2007. Luis also has various certifications from Microsoft, Coursera Course Certificates, American Red Cross, Harvard Medical School, Coursera, and edX.
