Scientist II at Arranta Bio

Thomas Nero has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Thomas began their career in 2009 as a Team Member at Target. From 2011 to 2013, they worked as a Research Technician at the University of Chicago Medical Center, collaborating on projects related to Inflammatory bowel diseases.

In 2013, Thomas joined Indiana University Bloomington, where they first served as a Lab technician and manager, investigating the infection mechanism of Yersinia pestis. Later, they became a PhD Candidate and focused on investigating the mechanism of natural transformation in Gram-negative bacteria, specifically characterizing the protein ComM as a DNA helicase and branch migration factor.

Following their time at Indiana University, Thomas joined Yale University in 2020 as a Postdoctoral Research Associate. Here, they constructed biofilm matrix protein mutants to investigate expression, export, and surface adhesion specificity. Thomas also worked on a collaboration studying the dispersion of respiratory pathogen clinical isolates from the surface of medical devices. Additionally, they mentored junior researchers on basic wet lab and experimental techniques.

In 2022, Thomas moved to Arranta Bio, where they worked initially as a Scientist and later as a Scientist II. Thomas'srole involved scientific research and contributions to projects.

Most recently, in 2023, Thomas joined ReciBioPharm as a Scientist II.

Thomas Nero earned a Bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of Chicago, where they studied from 2005 to 2009. Thomas later pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Microbiology, General at Indiana University Bloomington, completing their studies from 2015 to 2020.
