Shilpa George has a wealth of experience in the scientific and research field. Shilpa started their career in 2002 as a Marketing Executive in the Companion Animals Division at Intervet India Pvt. Ltd. In 2004, they were a Research Intern in Molecular Biology at the National Centre for Biological Sciences. From 2005 to 2021, they worked at GangaGen Biotechnologies, where they held roles as a Scientist and Team Leader for Animal Studies and BioAnalytical Development, a Research Veterinarian, and a Research Associate in Discovery. From 2012 to 2021, they were a Postdoctoral Researcher, Doctoral Researcher (Summa cum Laude), and Master Thesis (Provisional Doctoral Researcher) at the University of Tübingen. Her research projects included investigating the molecular cues at the transcriptional level which decide the Capsule-on or off phenotype for individual bacteria and thus the subversion of the innate immune response by a distinct sub-population within an infecting population, and investigating the influence of host micro-environments on bacterial toxin production which then further results in the selection of genetic mutants with a fitness advantage in certain host niches. In 2021, they became the Principal Scientist in Infectious Diseases and CMC at Prime Vector Technologies. Currently, they are a Senior Scientist at ArrePath.
Shilpa George obtained their Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Medical Microbiology and Bacteriology from the University of Tübingen in 2019. Shilpa also attended Bombay Veterinary College, Mumbai from 1997-2002, studying Veterinary Medicine.
