Jacques Schuhmacher currently serves as the Executive Director of Provenance Research at the Art Institute of Chicago, a position held since August 2024. Prior to this role, Jacques Schuhmacher was employed at the Victoria and Albert Museum from June 2018 to August 2024, initially as the Senior Provenance Research Curator supported by The Polonsky Foundation and subsequently as the Rosalinde and Arthur Gilbert Provenance and Spoliation Curator. Jacques Schuhmacher's earlier experience includes a role as a Researcher at the Commission for Looted Art in Europe from 2017 to 2018. Jacques Schuhmacher holds a Doctor of Philosophy (DPhil) in History from the University of Oxford.
