Dennis began their career in supply chain management at Medtronic in 2009 as Director, Commodity Management. In this role, they were responsible for leading the company's low cost sourcing strategy. Dennis was successful in this role, and in 2013 they were promoted to VP Sourcing (Chief Procurement Officer) at Hill-Rom.
In their role at Hill-Rom, Dennis led a material cost savings productivity plan that achieved record cost savings for the company. Dennis also implemented a “No PO, No Pay” policy that saved $3M in the first year of implementation. Under Dennis's leadership, the procurement team at Hill-Rom enhanced their capability and successfully consolidated several acquisitions.
In 2015, Dennis left Hill-Rom to join Baxter International Inc. as Sr. Director, Direct Procurement. In this role, they managed a team responsible for $2.1B in raw material spend that supported 58 plants. Dennis increased cost savings from 2.1% to 3.7% in their first year on the job and 4.1% the second year. Dennis also successfully implemented commodity strategies that met all NPI R&D milestones and reduced supplier risk by increasing contracted spend from 38 to 68% in 2 years.
Dennis Maier's educational career includes a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point and an MBA in Operations/Finance from the Purdue University Krannert School of Management.
