Mira Dayal is ideas editor of Art in America. Before joining the magazine, she honed her editorial skills at Artforum, first as an intern and ultimately as an associate editor; while there, in addition to editing pieces for online and print publication, she contributed reviews and features and started a new “Language” column. Mira has also contributed to numerous other publications, including the Brooklyn Rail, NYAQ, Hyperallergic, and several exhibition catalogues. She has started several publications: she was the founding editor of the Journal of Art Criticism and a co-publisher, with Nicole Kaack, of the collaborative artists’ publication prompt. In 2022 Paper Monument will publish a collection of essays on agendas in art criticism edited by Mira. An artist as well, she teaches courses on art writing and conceptual projects in programs such as those at the International Center of Photography and Hunter College. She is a graduate of Barnard College, where she studied art and economics, completing an honors thesis on Bouchra Khalili’s The Mapping Journey Project.
