Dr. Darren Henley CBE has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of media and arts. Dr Darren has held several significant positions throughout their career.
Starting in 1989, Dr. Henley worked as a Freelance Radio Journalist, Presenter, and Producer for various radio stations including Invicta FM, LBC, Classic FM, IRN, and BBC GLR.
In 1994, they joined ITN as a Senior Broadcast Journalist for Classic FM.
Moving on to Global Radio in 1995, Dr. Henley held various roles such as Managing Director, Music Brands at GCap Media, Station Manager at Classic FM, and Launch Director of Global TV, among others. Dr Darren remained with Global Radio until 2015.
During their time with Global Radio, Dr. Henley also served as a Non-Executive Director for Independent Radio News Ltd from 2008 to 2012.
Finally, in 2015, Dr. Henley was appointed Chief Executive of Arts Council England, their current position.
Dr Darren Henley CBE has a diverse education history. Dr Darren holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Coaching and Behavioural Change from Henley Business School, a DProf (Doctor of Professional Studies by Public Works) in the field of "The role of the outsider as an agent for change" from Middlesex University, an MSc in Applied Positive Psychology from Buckinghamshire New University, an MA in History of Art from the University of Buckingham, and a BA (Hons) in Politics from the University of Hull. Additionally, they have obtained various certifications, including being a member of the International Coaching Federation, completing a foundation course on Mindfulness Based Approaches from Bangor University, and receiving training in Positive Psychology in Coaching from Buckinghamshire New University. Dr Darren also holds certifications in coaching, NLP, applied neuroscience, and brain and behavior change.
