Medical Director Of Pharmacogenomics at ARUP Laboratories

Sherin Shaaban, MD, PhD, FACMG has a diverse work experience spanning various prestigious institutions. Sherin currently serves as the Medical Director of Pharmacogenomics and the Medical Director of Molecular Genetics and Genomics at ARUP laboratories. Additionally, they hold the position of Assistant Professor of Pathology at the University of Utah School of Medicine. Previously, they have worked as an Assistant Clinical Professor at USD Sanford School of Medicine and as the Director of Medical Genetics and Genomics Laboratories at Sanford Imagenetics. Sherin has also completed fellowship positions at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and Boston Children's Hospital, where they served as an ABMGG Clinical Molecular Genetics Fellow and a Harvard-Dubai (Alhabtoor) Fellow, respectively. Sherin'searly career included roles as an Assistant lecturer of Ophthalmology at Mansoura University, Faculty of Medicine, and as a PhD candidate at Okayama graduate school of Medicine, dentistry and pharmaceutical sciences.

Dr. Sherin Shaaban completed their Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S.) degree at Mansoura University from 1992 to 1998. Sherin then pursued a Master's degree of Science from Mansoura University from 2000 to 2004. Following this, they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Ophthalmic Genetics from Okayama University from 2006 to 2009. Most recently, they completed a Clinical Molecular Genetics Fellowship at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai from 2016 to 2018. Dr. Sherin Shaaban obtained additional certifications, including Fellow of the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ACMG) in 2019.
