Charles Shin has a diverse work experience in the medical and research fields. Charles started their career as a Research Employee at Seoul National University Hospital in 2021. Following that, they held multiple roles at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, including Research Lead and Undergraduate Researcher. Charles also worked as a Technical Lead and Technical Advisor at the Johns Hopkins Center for Bioengineering Innovation & Design, where they were involved in projects related to surgical robotic arm trajectory movements and data organization. Additionally, Charles founded and directed GPTionary, an education-focused AI platform, and SIMPLE SECURITY, an open-source iOS security app. Charles has also interned and volunteered as a Research Intern at Johns Hopkins Hospital and as a Clinical Shadowing Intern at Seoul National University Hospital. Throughout their career, Charles has demonstrated a passion for research, innovation, and improving healthcare practices.
Charles Shin has a Bachelor's degree in Medical Devices, Translational Cell and Tissue Engineering (Embryology) from Johns Hopkins Biomedical Engineering. Charles also holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (ML Track) from The Johns Hopkins University. Additionally, they obtained an IB Diploma from Chadwick International School. Charles has obtained certifications in Researchers, Human Subject Research - Biomedical Research, and Responsible Conduct of Research from the CITI Program.
