Haben Kubrom is the current Vice President of Finance and Administration at ASCB. Prior to this, Haben served as the Director of Finance at the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP-IHQ) from August 2015 to April 2021. In this role, Haben oversaw annual audits, budgeting and month-end close for both association and foundation entities (501(c)(3) and 501(c)(6)) as part of the organization’s senior leadership team.
Haben has a wealth of experience in accounting and finance, managing all accounting and finance duties including payroll, AP/AR, revenue recognition, CRM data imports, financial reporting and cash flow projections. Haben is also experienced in leading audit processes with external auditors, preparing the 990s and contributing to an FY19 audit that received zero management letter comments.
In addition to their work in accounting and finance, Haben has also been responsible for transitioning several accounts to a new bank, implementing 20 new merchant accounts, moving to a new payroll processing vendor and seeking a new investment firm for the association and foundation.
Haben is known for their ability to support stakeholders’ financial decisions by providing metrics and analytics and discussing monthly variances. Haben regularly produces financial reports, financial packages and presentations for committee meetings and board meetings. Haben has also created an accounting department manual with best practice internal controls, policies and procedures.

Haben Kubrom received their MBA from the University of Maryland Global Campus and their Bachelor's Degree in Economics from George Mason University. They also have a certification in Human Resource Management from George Mason University.
Their manager is Rebecca Alvania, CEO. They are on a team with Eric Baker - Journals Manager, Anna Hatch - DORA Program Director, and Jeff Schinske - Co Editors-in-Chief, CBE Life Sciences Education.
