Jake Barkin has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Jake began their career as a Research Intern at Control Risks in 2015. In 2017, they worked as a Research and Communications Intern at CREATe.org – The Center for Responsible Enterprise and Trade, and as a Graduate Consultant at Clean Water Action.
In 2018, Jake joined the International Trade Administration as a Smart Grid Intern. During this role, they gathered data on international markets and drafted comprehensive case studies on smart grid markets and energy policy.
Jake then transitioned to Ascendant Program Services, LLC in 2019. Jake started as a Research Analyst, focusing on the Sub-Saharan Africa region. Jake later became a Research Analyst for the Indo-Pacific region, taking on responsibilities such as managing a portfolio of project preparation activities and conducting due diligence research. In 2020, they were promoted to Deputy Project Manager, and in 2021, they assumed the role of Project Manager, both within the USTDA division.

Jake Barkin completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations and Affairs at Boston University from 2012 to 2016. Following this, they pursued a Graduate Certificate in Chinese and American Studies at the Hopkins-Nanjing Center from 2016 to 2017. Later, they obtained a Master of Arts degree in Energy, Resources, and Environment from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) during the academic year 2017-2018.
