Robert Ryan has a long and varied work experience, starting in 1997 as a Software Engineer at Alere Medical. In 1998, they moved to Innoventry as a Software Engineer, where they were responsible for developing service-based applications for financial transaction processing with extensive use of Java, Oracle SQL, and XML/HTTP messaging. In 2001, they joined Pacific Gas and Electric Company as a Software Engineer, where they worked across the enterprise to create a consolidated architecture for authentication and authorization in web-based applications. Robert also designed and developed the Customer Service Online web application for customers to view energy usage, pay bills, and request service. In 2004, they worked as an Internal Systems Consultant at Wells Fargo and as a Principal Analyst at UCSF Medical Center. From 2006 to 2009, they were the Architect & Manager at EC Wise, where they were responsible for architecture of large financial transaction processing systems known as the T2 platform. From 2009 to 2014, they were the Architect & Manager at Practice Fusion, where they architected software, systems, SOA, database design, external APIs, and full stack. Robert also coded in C#, machine learning in Python, Java, and integrations with several partners. Finally, in 2021, they were appointed Interim Chief Technology Officer at ASCO's CancerLinQ\u00ae.

Robert Ryan attended Sonoma State University where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Finance).
