Xavier Catena has a diverse range of work experience in the field of research. Xavier is currently working as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Lund University and Asgard Therapeutics, starting in 2023. Prior to that, they were a Research Assistant and a Marie Curie Early Stage Researcher - IMMUTRAIN PhD Student at CNIO - Spanish National Cancer Research Centre from 2016 to 2023. Xavier also had a Secondment at Medizinische Universität Innsbruck in 2019 as a PhD Student. Xavier completed their Master's Thesis at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital in 2015. In 2014, they worked as a Research Trainee at Uppsala University, focusing on tumor vascular biology. Additionally, they had a research trainee role in genetics at Hospital do Divino Espírito Santo in 2012, and an internship at Erasmus MC in 2010, where they conducted research on histone modifying machinery.
Xavier Catena pursued their education chronologically and began with a Bachelor's degree in Biology/Biological Sciences, General from Universitat de Barcelona, which they completed from 2006 to 2011. Xavier then pursued a Master's degree in Molecular Medicine from Uppsala University, where they studied between 2013 and 2015. Later on, Xavier pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Molecular Biosciences at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, which they successfully completed from 2016 to 2021. Additionally, they obtained a certification in Learning Excel: Data-Analysis from LinkedIn in August 2019.
