James Villafuerte

James Villafuerte is a seasoned economist with extensive experience in various roles at the Asian Development Bank (ADB), currently serving as Regional Lead Economist since January 2021. Prior positions at ADB include Principal Economist, Country Economist for Indonesia, Senior Economist, and Economist, demonstrating a progressive career over several years. James also held the position of Project Manager Team Lead at ADB and served as Senior Economist at the Department of Treasury & Finance from January 2008 to June 2011. Additional experience includes leadership roles at both the Asia Regional Integration Center and the Department of Treasury & Finance in Victoria, as well as a tenure as Economist at The World Bank. James holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the School of Economics, University of the Philippines.
