Brianna Jayanthi

Mammalian Synthetic Biologist at Asimov

Brianna Jayanthi has a diverse work experience. Brianna joined Asimov in 2020 as a Mammalian Synthetic Biologist. Prior to that, they worked at Rice University from 2013 to 2019, first as a Graduate Research Assistant and then as a Graduate Research Assistant, where they applied mathematical models and assisted in characterizing the dynamics of transgene delivery by viral infection. Before their time at Rice, Brianna was at the University of Washington from 2011 to 2013. There, they served as a Research/Engineering Assistant, focusing on designing and characterizing microRNA-binding site variants and investigating the dynamics of translational inhibition in mammalian cells. Additionally, they were an Undergraduate Research Assistant, where they characterized chromosomal integration sites and built a toolkit for genetic circuits in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Brianna's early work experience includes a position as a Command Center Operator at AlliedBarton Security Services from 2008 to 2012. In this role, they provided training, managed alarm response, and coordinated emergency responses.

Brianna Jayanthi completed their Associate in Science degree in Biology at Green River College from 2008 to 2010. Brianna then pursued their Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, specializing in Molecular and Cellular Biology, at the University of Washington from 2010 to 2012. Continuing their academic journey, they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Systems, Synthetic, and Physical Biology from Rice University, where they studied from 2013 to 2019.
