From 2005 until the present, they have held the position of Senior R&D Director at Aspen Aerogels, where they have led a team in the development and commercialization of innovative aerogel products for various applications, such as thermal insulation and fire protection. Notably, their team achieved the development of the Pyrothin product line, a mechanically resilient aerogel composite designed for thermal barriers in electric vehicles. Prior to their current role, Owen worked as a Senior Scientist at Soane Labs, a start-up incubator focused on polymer and nanotechnologies, and as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the University of California at Berkeley.
Owen Evans received a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemistry from Merrimack College in the years 1993 to 1997. Subsequently, they pursued a Ph.D. in Materials Chemistry at Brandeis University from 1997 to 2001. Following this, Owen completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Chemistry at the University of California, Berkeley, spanning from 2002 to 2004. In more recent years, they pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Data Science at Merrimack College from 2020 to 2021. In addition to their educational background, Owen has obtained certifications in "SQL for Data Science" from Coursera in October 2022 and "R Programming A-Z™: R For Data Science With Real Exercises" from Udemy in January 2021.
