Christian D. Klose, PhD has extensive experience in various roles related to risk assessment and data analytics. Christian D. currently serves as the Director of Climate Risk at Assured Guaranty, a position they started in 2022. Prior to this, they worked as an Advisor at True Flood Risk starting in 2020. From 2018, Christian has also been an Adjunct Faculty at Columbia University School of Professional Studies, where they impart their knowledge and expertise to students. From 2015 to 2022, they held the position of Vice President at Swiss Re. Before that, they founded and served as the Managing Director of Think Geohazards, Inc., where they developed machine learning systems and scalable software solutions for risk mitigation and natural hazard assessment. Christian also worked as the Lead Data Scientist at MetLife from 2012 to 2015. Christian D. began their career working as a Researcher and Post-Doc at Columbia University, where they conducted research and published various machine learning algorithms. Christian has also worked at Chevron as a Consultant, leading research projects for risk assessment and optimization of hydrocarbon production.
Christian D. Klose, PhD, earned their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Computational Earth Science from ETH Zürich in the years 2000 to 2003. Prior to that, they completed their Master's Degree in Geological and Earth Sciences/Geosciences at Technische Universität Berlin from 1993 to 1999.
