Kai Harth has a solid background in the aerospace industry, with a focus on flight software and avionics systems. Kai is currently serving as the Senior Director and Chief Flight Software Architect at AST SpaceMobile. Prior to this role, Kai was a Boeing Associate Technical Fellow and Principal Engineer at Aurora Flight Sciences Corporation, where they led the software group for avionics systems and also worked as a software engineer. Kai was responsible for the flight software on various Aurora platforms, including the "Odysseus" ultra-long endurance solar aircraft, the "Orion" ultra-long endurance UAS, and the "Centaur" optionally piloted aircraft. Before joining Aurora Flight Sciences Corporation, Kai worked at EADS Military Air Systems as a Flight Control Systems and Software Engineer, where they contributed significantly to the design of a robust and fault-tolerant flight control system for the EADS UCAV Demonstrator project. In addition to their professional experience, Kai also conceptualized and developed a framework for auto-generating high-quality and readable source code for safety-critical applications through the Unified Code-generation (UCGN) open-source project.
Kai Harth completed their education in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering with a Dipl.-Ing. degree from Technische Universität Darmstadt from 1996 to 2002. Kai also pursued a Master's degree in the same field at the University at Buffalo from 1999 to 2001. Additionally, they obtained a certification as a Private Pilot with a Single Engine Land and Instrument Rating from the Federal Aviation Administration in 2002.
