Sajani Liyanage

Sajani Liyanage currently serves as a Senior Scientist at AstraZeneca since March 2023, following a role as a Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant and Doctoral Student at the University of Massachusetts Lowell from September 2017 to August 2022. During doctoral studies, Sajani Liyanage synthesized various organic compounds, including perfluorophenyl-azide (PFPA) derivatives and functionalized carbohydrates such as trehalose, maltose, glucose, mannose, and GlcNAc, as well as PFPA conjugated carbohydrates designed for use as fluorescence turn-on molecules. Earlier experience includes positions as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant and Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of Colombo from December 2014 to February 2017. Sajani Liyanage holds a PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of Massachusetts Lowell and a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from the University of Colombo.
