Sharmila Vijay

Sharmila Vijay is a seasoned consultant in gene therapy with extensive experience in program management, product development, and bioanalytical development. Currently serving as a Consultant for Gene Therapy since September 2019, Sharmila leads preclinical stage ophthalmology gene therapies and provides strategic support for multiple clients in ophthalmology and CNS. Previous roles include Director of Assays and Bioanalytical Development at Ambys Medicines, and Director of Bioanalytical Development at Versartis, Inc., where Sharmila managed clinical trial bioanalytics and project workflows. Sharmila's career began with foundational work in gene therapy at Avigen and includes significant contributions to assay development at Adverum Biotechnologies, Amunix, and Strata Biosciences. Sharmila holds multiple degrees in Zoology and Molecular Biology/Biochemistry from institutions in India and California.
