Christopher Rex

Principal Cello at Atlanta Symphony Orchestra

Christopher Rex has had a distinguished career as a cellist and an administrator within various music organizations. Notably, Christopher served as the Principal Cello for the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra from 1979 until March 2022. Additionally, Christopher held key positions as the cello chair and chamber music coordinator at the McDuffie Center for Strings at Mercer University from September 2007 to March 2022 and as Artistic Director for the Madison Chamber Music Festival from June 2003 to March 2022. In leadership roles, Christopher was the General and Artistic Director of the Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival from May 2002 to March 2022 and served on the Board of Directors for Chamber Music America from 2007 to 2010. Earlier in Christopher's career, experience included working as a cellist with the Philadelphia Orchestra Association from November 1972 to August 1979. Christopher's academic background includes a Bachelor of Music degree in cello from the Curtis Institute of Music, earned between 1968 and 1972.
