Richard Dovey has extensive work experience in the field of waste management and utilities. Richard started their career as Manager at the Rutland County Solid Waste District, where they were responsible for various aspects of waste management, including the development of resource recovery projects, landfill siting, and implementation of recycling programs. Richard then moved on to work as a Project Planner at the Atlantic County Utilities Authority, where they managed the development and siting of a resource recovery facility and a regional landfill. Following that, Richard served as the Department Head at the Atlantic County Department of Regional Planning, overseeing various areas such as land use, housing, transportation, and solid waste management. Currently, they serve as the President of the Atlantic County Utilities Authority, where they are responsible for the operation of wastewater and solid waste divisions, managing a staff of 250 and overseeing a significant budget.
Richard Dovey attended Stockton University from 1971 to 1975, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Urban Studies.
