Opto-mechanical Engineer at Atomic Machines

E-Fann Saung has over 14 years of experience in engineering and mechanical design. In 2006, they began their career as an Engineering Co-op at Gamma Technologies, Inc. In 2008, they worked as a Manufacturing Co-op at Honda of America Mfg., Inc., where they standardized machine wear part drawings and provided preventative maintenance support for large CNCs. From 2009 to 2014, they worked as an Opto-Mechanical Engineer at General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, where they developed opto-mechanical sensors for manned and unmanned air vehicles. From 2014 to 2016, they worked as a Sr. Mechanical Engineer at Quantum Energy Storage Corporation, designing high capacity flywheel energy storage systems. From 2016 to 2018, they worked as a Staff Mechanical Engineer at Illumina, where they were responsible for NPI Mechanical Engineering for assembly and test bring up of genetic sequencing instruments. Finally, since 2018, they have been working as an Opto-Mechanical Engineer at Meta, where they have been developing prototypes for technology exploration and product development.

E-Fann Saung obtained a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology, followed by an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from San Diego State University. In 2009, they obtained a Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED AP) certification from the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI). In 2013, they obtained a Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification from the California Board for Professional Engineers.
