Ellen McCarthy

Ellen McCarthy is a seasoned professional in the legal and insurance sectors, currently serving as a Senior Underwriter at Attorney Protective since September 2023, where the focus is on underwriting lawyers professional liability for special risk law firms. Prior to this, Ellen dedicated nearly 27 years to Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, holding various roles including Legal Counsel, Senior Product Underwriter & Risk Management Leader, and Vice President and Claims Expert, overseeing complex lawyers and agents professional liability claims and providing product support for small to mid-sized lawyer teams. Earlier experience includes serving as an Associate Attorney at Meng and Urey, focusing on insurance defense in automobile and homeowner liability. Ellen holds a Doctor of Law (JD), cum laude, from the University of Baltimore School of Law and a BA, magna cum laude, in English/Writing from McDaniel College.
