James Smit

James Smit is an experienced Project Manager at Atwell, LLC since July 2022, previously holding the position of Associate Project Manager. Prior to this role, James worked at ERM: Environmental Resources Management from June 2015 to July 2022 as a Senior Consultant and Associate Scientist, focusing on wetland delineation, species surveying, and environmental permitting. James also served as a Project Scientist and Research Technician at Grand Valley State University from June 2012 to June 2015, supporting various field research projects. Additionally, James was a Water Fellow at West Michigan Environmental Action Council, where responsibilities included educating groups on water quality and engaging volunteers in environmental initiatives. James began a career in environmental work as a Wet Lab Technician at ALS Environmental from 2011 to 2012, performing chemical analyses. Academic qualifications include a Master of Science in Biology and Aquatic Science from Grand Valley State University and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Olivet Nazarene University.
