James Othus has a diverse work experience starting in 2015 as an Undergraduate Researcher at Research Computing University of South Florida. James created and optimized a computational model of electroporation of a single cell and developed a computational model of a composite catalyst for improving synthesis gas production. In 2016, James worked at Arthrex as an Associate QA Validation Engineer, where they maintained communication with multiple departments and collaborated with stakeholders to ensure validation project timelines and product quality. James also served as a Validation Intern, performing characterization procedures for medical device cleaning. From 2018 to 2022, James worked at DePuy Synthes in various roles. James served as a Design Quality Engineer, providing input for design development, quality assessments, and non-conforming product impacts. As an NPI & CI Quality Engineer, they completed Six Sigma Green Belt investigations, designed automated test fixtures, and implemented flow control systems for CAPA resolution. Prior to their current position, James worked at Portal Instruments as a Senior Quality Engineer. In this role, they represented Quality on project teams, assisted with root cause investigations, and conducted internal audits. Now, James is a Senior Quality Engineer at Aura Biosciences, starting in 2023.
James Othus completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of South Florida, which they attended from 2014 to 2016. James later pursued a Master of Science in Biomedical/Medical Engineering at the University of Southern California, completing their degree from 2017 to 2020.
