Andrew Terhell

Match Day Technology Support at Australian Football League

Andrew Terhell has a diverse work experience that spans various industries. Andrew is currently an Associate Lecturer at the University of Tasmania, where they coordinate undergraduate units, lectures in postgraduate units, and connects with the community, industry, and events at The Media School. Andrew is also a current Ph.D. candidate conducting research on the application of popular documentary storytelling methods to environmental documentaries.

In 2020, Andrew worked as a Match Day Technology Supporter for the AFL (Australian Football League), where they provided support for technology systems used during match days. Prior to that, they worked at Champion Data as an AFL Matchday IT Support, where they provided and supported technology solutions for AFL officials and teams on game days.

Andrew also has experience in media production and editing. Andrew co-founded Crow's Nest Media, a digital content producer in Hobart, where they served as the Co-Director, Editor, Cameraman, and Producer. Andrew was responsible for end-to-end production processes, including scripting, storyboarding, filming, interviewing, and editing video content for various platforms and clients. Some of the clients they have worked with include Cricket Tasmania, the Institute of Marine and Antarctic Studies, and the University of Tasmania.

Before their career in media, Andrew worked in the sports and tourism industries. Andrew was a Snowboard Instructor at Breckenridge Ski and Ride School and Mt Hotham, and a Mountain Bike Guide and Tour Guide at Under Down Under Tours.

Overall, Andrew Terhell has a strong background in media production, IT support, and teaching, with a focus on environmental storytelling, community-based creative arts practice, and media technology in their research and professional work.

Andrew Terhell completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication, Journalism, and Related Programs, as well as Philosophy, from the University of Tasmania. Andrew attended this institution from 2009 to 2012. Later, from 2015 to 2016, Andrew pursued a Graduate Diploma in Journalism Media and Communications from the same university.
