In January 2013, Dessa joined Avance Care as an intern completing her last semester of college with a BS in Health Services Management from East Carolina University School of Allied Health. Initially, she focused on learning the administrative, support, and management positions of the organization such as accounts receivable, collections, and office management. In 2015, due to positive organizational growth, Dessa accepted the position of Human Resources Manager and created a formal human resources department that has successfully expanded with the organization. It now offers numerous services to all managers and a variety of flexible employee benefits that can be personalized to fit each employee’s situation. During this time, she also earned a MS in Human Relations and Business and an MS Certificate in Conflict Management and Resolution from Amberton University. Dessa is now the Director of Human Resources. She says it is her goal to support the mission of the organization by providing services which help the organization attract, retain, and reward competent and dedicated staff who share the commitment of fostering the Avance Care culture. This culture values employees through fair treatment, open communication, personal accountability, trust, and mutual respect to achieve the organizations initiatives through its most value asset, its employees.
