Michael J. Quiello has extensive work experience in the aviation industry. Michael J. began their career in 1975 with the United States Marine Corps, where they served as a Captain and Designated Naval Aviator. In 1981, they joined Delta Air Lines, where they held various roles including Vice President - Corporate Safety Security and Environment, Director - Flight Safety, Director - Fleets, Chief Technical Pilot, General Manager - International Operations, Chief Pilot - New York, and Line Pilot. In 2009, they moved to United Airlines, where they served as Vice President - Corporate Safety, Vice President - Corporate Safety, and Vice President - Corporate Safety, Security, Quality and Environment. In 2017, they became the Chair Of The Board Of Trustees at the National Aviation Hall of Fame. Most recently, in 2020, they were appointed Vice President - Safety, Security and Operational Efficiency at XTRA Airways, and in 2021 they assumed the same role at Avelo Airlines.

Michael J. Quiello obtained their Airline Transport Pilot, Commercial Pilot Single Engine Land & Sea, Private Priviledges Glider certification from the Federal Aviation Administration in August of 1970. Michael J. then attended the University of New Haven from 1970 to 1974, where they earned their Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. Michael J. attended the United States Navy Flight School from 1975 to 1976 for Naval Aviator Training. Finally, they attended The George Washington University from 2005 to 2007 for their Aviation Safety and Security Certificate Program.
