Tom Fanning has a diverse work experience in the telecommunications industry. Tom started their career as a Technical Specialist I at Raytheon, where they designed and developed test fixtures and firmware/software automation programs. Tom then worked as a Senior RF Engineer at Aerial Communications Inc, before joining Voicestream Wireless as a RAN Engineering Manager. At Voicestream Wireless, they led a team of engineers and managed end-to-end wireless network performance.

Tom Fanning obtained a BSEET degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from the University of Central Florida from 1990 to 1995. Tom also attended the U.S. Army Signal School in 1986-1987 and 1988 for training in Communications Electronic Radio Repair and Unit Level Communications Maintainer, respectively.
