Ron de Waard

Ron de Waard has extensive work experience in the field of software development and consultancy, primarily focused on terminal operating systems (TOS) and container terminal operations.

Starting in 2000, Ron worked as a Business Analyst for ECT, where they participated in the selection process for a new software system for automated container terminals.

In 2001, Ron joined Westland Energie Services as a Software Engineer, where they refactored a plant physiological model, making it more robust, maintainable, and extensible for use in the agricultural market.

In 2005, Ron worked as an Architect/Software Engineer for Gottwald Port Technology, developing the Manned Equipment Server (MES) for container handling equipment.

Ron then moved on to work as a Webdesigner and Administrator for OWSV De Grot in 2005, designing and maintaining the dive club's website using Joomla.

In 2006, Ron joined TBA as a Software Engineer, where they developed Sysmon, a control and monitoring tool for the TEAMS automated equipment software suite. Ron also contributed to extending the automated test suite using C++.

From 2007 to 2009, Ron worked as an Architect and Software Engineer for Euromax terminal in Rotterdam, where they engineered and developed the Truck Guidance System (TGS) to guide trucks through the terminal using touch screens and browsers.

Ron then began their tenure at Navis in 2009 as a Software Developer, implementing the Kalmar TLS interface for the N4 control module. Ron also worked on various gate projects involving N4, TGS, and CAMCO, providing design, analysis, development, and testing support for the implementation of gate solutions.

After working independently as the Owner of Twinspot BV from 1998, Ron rejoined Navis in 2017 as a Java Software Developer, where they developed interfaces and provided functional changes to support the Autoshuttle and Autostrad modules within Navis N4.

Most recently, in 2020, Ron started working for Avlino as a TOS Consultant and Developer, focusing on enhancing current TOS implementations with AI modules and connecting Avlino's solutions to the Navis product suite.

In 1980, they began their education at HZ University of Applied Sciences, where they pursued a degree in HTS Werktuigbouwkunde (Mechanical Engineering). Ron completed their degree in 1985.

In 1988, Ron attended PostHTO Heerlen, where they obtained certification in Programming within a technical environment.

From 1989 to 1990, they attended De Haagse Hogeschool / The Hague University of Applied Sciences and earned certification in Design of Systems.

In 1994, Ron returned to De Haagse Hogeschool / The Hague University of Applied Sciences and studied Client/Server Systems, obtaining another certification.

In 1995, they continued their education at the same institution and focused on the Development of IT, earning another certification.

In 1999, Ron attended Cibit Utrecht and completed a certification program in Modern Software Development.

Additionally, in 2006, Ron obtained a certification as a 2* Dive instructor from NOB / CMAS.

In terms of additional certifications, Ron completed the "shaping-up-with-angular-js" course offered by Code School in February 2015.
