Laurent Desclos has a diverse work experience that spans over several decades. Laurent began their career as a Trainee at Matra Defense in 1988. Laurent then worked as a VSN at Office des Postes et Telecommunications, teaching mathematics and physics. In 1989, Desclos joined CNRS - Centre national de la recherche scientifique as a Research Engineer, where they completed their PhD thesis and taught at the engineering school. Desclos then joined NEC Corporation as a Research Engineer in 1992 and later worked at SILICOM SAS as an Engineer, supervising military projects and coordinating inter-systems coordination for the French army and civilian systems.
Desclos returned to NEC Corporation in 1996, taking on the role of Shunin and leading the development of RF chips for wireless LAN and GaAs chipset for anti-collision radar. Laurent continued to work on various projects within NEC Corporation, including front-end and antenna design for LANs, before leaving in 2000 to co-found ethertronics. At ethertronics, Desclos held multiple positions, including President, CEO, CTO, and COO, and played a significant role in growing the business and manufacturing units worldwide.
In 2018, Desclos joined AVX Corporation as the VP of Antennas and Supercap, a leading supplier of components for the electronics industry. Laurent was responsible for the technology aspect of AVX and interfacing with Kyocera on various products. In 2020, Desclos transitioned to the role of VP of R&D and Technology at AVX Corporation, where they oversee the company's technology support and collaborates with the M&A department to shape the overall technology direction.
Laurent Desclos holds an Engineer's Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from INSA Rennes, which they obtained in 1988. Laurent then pursued a Ph'D degree at INSA Rennes from 1989 to 1992. Laurent Desclos also received the certification of Fellow IEEE from the institution of IEEE.
