Richard Hughes

Richard Hughes is an experienced executive in the cultural sector, currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer of Awen Cultural Trust since October 2015, where the focus is on enhancing people's lives through quality cultural opportunities. In addition to this role, Richard has been a Board Member at Cwmpas since September 2019. Previously, Richard held several leadership positions at Bridgend County Borough Council from 2009 to 2015, including Group Manager for Cultural Services and Interim Head of Healthy Living, where responsibilities encompassed arts, libraries, community learning, and leisure services. Richard's early career included roles at Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council, focusing on arts, heritage, and tourism, alongside strategic management and business development. Richard holds a Bachelor's Degree in History from Cardiff University, completed in 1997.
